Role responsibilities

  • Implement Strategy: With other members of the management team, lead the implementation and development of the Foundation’s impact-first strategy, aligning grant and investment activities with strategic goals.
  • Identify Opportunities: Develop and manage a pipeline of high-impact grant and investment opportunities across strategic sectors, including fair and just transition, adaptation SMEs, sustainable agriculture, disaster risk management, and ecosystem-based adaptation. Ensure these opportunities have the potential to leverage additional funding, amplifying the impact and sustainability of the Foundation’s initiatives.
  • Conduct Due Diligence: Perform due diligence on grant and investment opportunities, assessing financial viability, impact, fund leveraging potential, and alignment with the Foundation’s impact thesis.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure all grants and investments comply with regulatory frameworks and guidelines relevant to the Trafigura Foundation. – Portfolio Management: Manage grants and investments from proof of concept to scale-up, ensuring partnerships meet their intended outcomes and adjusting strategies to address emerging risks or challenges.
  • Identify and Execute Exit Strategies: Develop and implement exit strategies for grants and investments to ensure sustainable impact and smooth transitions. Collaborate with grantees and investees to set clear milestones and criteria for exits, providing guidance throughout the transition period.
  • Enhance Impact Measurement: Support the enhancement of the Foundation’s impact measurement and management framework, driving transparency and accountability. Assist with regular reporting, including preparation for Board meetings.
  • Foster Relationships: Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including philanthropies, investors, fund managers, non-profits, and industry networks, to expand the Foundation’s network, identify new opportunities and to leverage the foundation funds to mobilize additional investments from third parties. Represent the Foundation in relevant coalitions, alliances, and associations.
  • Team Development: Contribute to the growth and development of the Foundation team by sharing knowledge, expertise, and insights.

Exigences

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, development finance, economics, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience managing the full investment cycle, with a preference for evaluating fund managers and including impact investment.
  • Experience working on climate-related issues in developing countries and emerging economies, with a focus on Latin America, Africa, or Asia.
  • Experience in roles involving financial skills/analysis.

 

Desired:

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset, with operational business experience – ideally in a start-up/growing business or non for profit.
