Fondation Botnar appoints Andrea Studer as Chief Executive Officer
Andrea Studer has been appointed as Fondation Botnar’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). From 1 September 2024, she will join the Foundation to lead its mission to work with and for young people towards a world that fulfils their rights and supports their wellbeing.
Andrea Studer brings wide-ranging experience, including over 20 years of working on complex development issues at the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA), particularly within the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Most recently, she held the position of Vice-Director and Ambassador in charge of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation portfolio across Northern Africa, the Middle East and Europe, leading dialogues with governments and partner organisations as well as overall strategy and policies. Before this, Andrea Studer worked with the United Nations Development Programme in Benin and held other positions at SDC headquarters and abroad. She studied social anthropology and sociology at the universities of Zürich and Sussex (UK).
In her new role as CEO, Andrea Studer will be responsible for driving forward Fondation Botnar’s mission towards a world where young people thrive. Areas of focus will include enabling liveable and sustainable city systems, supporting a human rights-based digital transformation, promoting mental health, and strengthening quality public education.
