OnlineScience concerns us all, but it only reaches part of the public. This is why Gebert Rüf Stiftung has been supporting «Scientainment» with CHF 2 million annually for the last 10 years, combining science with entertainment and making it accessible to a wide audience. The presentation by Marco Vencato looks at specific funding projects and their impact, but also addresses funding strategy considerations and shows how important it is for the Swiss research funding system to support science communication more strongly as the ‘missing link’ in the knowledge value chain.
Marco Vencato has been Deputy Director of Gebert Rüf Stiftung since 2017. He is responsible for the operational management of selected funding programmes, including the ‘Scientainment’ programme, which focuses on innovative science communication projects. In this role, he oversees a wide range of projects at universities, primary schools and cultural institutions throughout Switzerland. He holds a doctorate in medieval history. From 2009 to 2016, he worked for the Swiss Science and Innovation Council, the Federal Council’s advisory body on all matters relating to science policy.
This webinar is part 2 of a new webinar series organised by the Research working group. The series addresses current issues and challenges in the research funding area. The first three webinars take place on 23 October 2024, 5 December 2024 and 15 January 2025.
